Type I interferon receptor-signaling delays Kupffer cell replenishment during acute fulminant viral hepatitis

Katharina Borst

Key message

During an acute virus-induced hepatitis type I interferon signaling regulates the anti-viral immune response as well as the development of anti-inflammatory kupffer cells.

Translational perspective

Selective activation or inhibition of type I interferon signaling of myeloid cells could be  an innovative approach for immunotherapy in the future.
