Chris Lauber heads the research group Computational Virology at TWINCORE. He completed his bioinformatics studies at the University of Jena in 2007. In 2012, he received his PhD in the group of Alexander Gorbalenya at Leiden University Medical Center (Leiden, the Netherlands) in virus evolution and bioinformatics. In 2013, Chris joined Lars Kaderali's group at the University of Technology Dresden, working in the field of virus discovery and OMICs data analysis. After a short stay as a data scientist at the biotech start-up Lipotype GmbH, he was appointed junior professor (W1) at the Hannover Medical School and TWINCORE in 2020 as part of the RESIST cluster of excellence. Chris is a member of several study groups of the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) to contribute to the taxonomic classification of different virus families.
