Anti-nuclear autoantibodies in the general German population: prevalence and lack of association with selected cardiovascular and metabolic disorders—findings of a multicenter population-based study

Frank Pessler; Manas Akmatov

Key message

This multicenter study used an innovative high-throughput method to determine autoimmune antibodies in the general German population. We presented data on distribution of autoantibodies in the general population and associations between autoantibodies and selected chronic diseases.

Translational perspective

This high throughput method will enable us to study the role of autoantibodies in the development of chronic diseases in the context of large health studies such as the NaKo Gesundheitsstudie.
